Final thoughts: Why has it taken me this long to read Holly Black's work?  PLEASE tell me there's a sequel!I need more of this world. I'm pretty sure this is just a standalone but if Black ever releases a novella set in Fairfold, I'll be the first on bored!

Hazel and her brother Ben live in a town where humans live among fae. The two have grown up slaying fae, telling stories and falling for the mysterious horned boy, who happens to be asleep in a clear coffin in the woods.

Everyone knows the rules when one would stumble upon a fae.
Never thank a fae,
Don't eat or drink the food,
Never look a fae in the eyes and
Never make a deal with fae.

So when Hazel breaks one of the rules, Fairfold is never the same. The horned boy is no longer asleep in his coffin and too many people around the town are dying. Only Hazel and Ben know how to stop the madness.

There isnt anything, not one thing that I can think of in which I didnt like about this book. I adored Ben to pieces. He was my absolute favorite to read about. The focus on the sibling relationship was definitely a fresh new take. The romance was cute and just enough to keep you lightly blushing with more action and drama to look forward to. The world building in itself was enticing. I pictured myself as a tourist looking in and fell in love with the horned boy just as well. I engulfed this book in one sitting and plan to read more of Holly Black's work very soon.

  1. Agreed! This book was so, so good, and I seriously have no idea why I haven't read a Holly Black book before. I certainly will be now! And I agree, though the ending was certainly sufficient for a standalone, I would NOT turn down more of this world. Great review :)
