SBPT '15 K-pop and Books
Welcome to the 2015 Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by the Book Bratz. This tour features bloggers every Sunday. My third post is dedicated to Aila @ One Way Or An Author!!
Aila and I are huge fans of K-Pop, therefore we decided to relate some of our favorite songs to YA books recently read.
1. Exo K - Mama with The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh For those of you who don't know: "Mama" in Korean refers to royalty, like "Your Highness" or "Your Majesty." In this song, Exo is asking "Mama" - the royalty - why they can't love or communicate anymore. In other words, they live in a desolate and lonely world. In The Wrath and the Dawn, which is a retelling of The Arabian Nights, for some reason the young king in the story is killing off the girls he marries. I can see someone in the story singing "Mama" to the king and asking him for it to change.
2. BAP - Power with An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir In BAP's song, they're basically singing whoever has the power survives in the world. I thought this was VERY apt for the brutal, Roman-like setting in An Ember in the Ashes. Both the main characters has to somehow find the power to survive in their world.
3. Big Bang - Monster with A Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J Maas "I love you, baby I'm not a monster" is the first line of the chorus. Obviously I'd pick this song for a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, as Big Bang is asking the listeners not to turn their backs to them because of things they did in the past, and not to leave them. This seems very familiar with the actions of the Beast in the story, whose spell would have been broken if the Beauty said she loved him. Yes, I'm talking about Tamlin and Feyre.
4. Hyuna and Hyun Seung - Troublemaker with Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard OKAY, so if you watched the music video it's a bit sexier than the book obviously, but the whole point of it is that the singers are "troublemakers," just like Mare is a troublemaker in Red Queen by being someone of red blood with powers. And of course, the romance singing back-and-forth in the song can be imagined as her and the other ends of the love triangle, Cal and/or Maven.
5. Infinite - With... with All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven I thought this very sweet, very cute song fits well with the relationship of Theo and Violet in All the Bright Places. First off, the mellow vocals give it a relaxing tone that matches with the contemporary genre of the book, which features the characters in their everyday lives. "Do you remember our first awkward encounter?" Yup, that sounds like Theo x Violet all right.
Are you a fan of K-Pop? Have you heard of any of these groups before?! Let us know what you think!

Fallen Angels are the main theme here. These three titles are some of the more popular titles in YA regarding Angels. Did anyone get the Kindle Daily deal of DoSaB?

I have a fasination with robots. I practically own every book related to the subject. Surprisingly there are quite a few titles. Humans airing on AMC looks amazing. Tonight there will be a three hour encore, will you be watching?
Ahhh even these covers alone remind me the Human girl in the ad above!
A pretty impressive collection for each new/returning show. What are your thoughts? Did we miss any in the category? Let us know in the comments. Are you watching Dominion or Humans or better yet, both?
