Science Comics: Coral Reefs - Cities of the Ocean was pure nostalgia for an adult like myself. My youth days of watching The Magic School Bus felt somewhat relived when I was reading this informative yet creative and funny comic. This is a great introductory to beginner science as well as a review for experienced learners. I was stumped on several of the "Did you Know" questionnaire.
The author included a brief three page note about himself which I found to be just as intriguing as the comic itself. He does a great job including himself into the story and also includes comedic footnotes to help the reader make sense of the topic. There's a glossary in the back filled with important terminology.
Overall, I would highly recommend this series for any kid or science lover out there. The illustrations were vivid and the plot moved pretty fast. It is a nice size comic book for any age.

Maris Wicks lives in sunny Somerville, Massachusetts. She is the author behind Human Body Theater, as well as the illustrator of New York Times-bestselling Primates, with Jim Ottaviani. When she's not making comics, Wicks works as a program educator at the New England Aquarium.
