Morgan picks up right where she left off in The 100. Bellamy will stop at nothing to find his sister Octavia. They've been on land now for 21 days and they arent alone. When Clarke and Bellamy search for Octavia, things take a turn for the worse. Clarke seems to be the only one to connect with the "Grounders" to get answers which only leads to more questions. How far they willing to go to save Octavia and what if its already too late?

It has been over a year since I read the first book, The 100. I thought it would be difficult to get back into because I have read so many books in between, but I had no problem. Morgan does an excellent job recapturing elements from the first book. That being said, I am a big fan of the CW TV show. I've seen every episode and there are plenty of differences between the show and book to be confusing but it really wasnt. Reading Day 21, I pictured several different episodes from the first season. There are slight differences here in there with cast and character names but the hardships they face and the people they meet are very similar to the show. Reading this book is like re-watching the season from a different director.

Overall, I enjoyed book two more than the first. The writing style improved and there was more action, drama and hardships and less romance. I dont think trilogy needs romance however for Glass, it works. Also, Bellamy isnt a huge douche as he was in book one. Of all the characters, he's my least favorite and I want him to die. I'm still not a huge fan of the four points of view and would like to see at least one these characters die off in the third. (Is that bad :o) To be honest, I wasnt going to read Day 21 but I would watch the show instead. I'm glad I gave this a chance I am really interested to see direction this series will go.

have you read Day 21? What did you think of it? comment below!

Catch Me When I Fall

Catch Me When I Fall (Dreamcatcher #1)
ebook

*I was given an ARC via Netgalley from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Daniel Graham died to be a Protector of the Night to guard the living from their nightmares. For decades, he's been a Protector invisible from the ones he's protecting. Now assigned to Kayla Bartlett, a sixteen year old psychiatric ward patient is harder than he imagined. Nightmares love the troubled past victims and there's something about Kayla that's not adding up. So when Daniel breaks the number one rule and introduces himself to Kayla they whisk off to Rome for answers. Out of nowhere, Kayla gets kidnapped and its up to Daniel to find her no matter the cost.

First of all, this cover is Gorgeous and relates to the plot extremely well. I came across this book from a Goodreads Listopia and fell in love with the cover. I know, I know "Don't judge a book by its cover" but I can't help it. I read the synopsis and found out that the author was from my hometown so I knew I had to give this a go.

I didnt love this, I didnt hate it. Overall, this was meh. The main issue was the love interest aspect. The romance is just extra insta, insta-love which makes it hard to bypass to believe and enjoy the plot. Daniel literally falls for Kayla in ten seconds flat. There were times where Daniel was too feminine and I thought we were in Kayla's head.

Also, the plot seemed very predictable. At times, it was but there were a few instances were I was caught off guard and I liked the new direction.

Kayla was my favorite character. She was demanding but had the right to be. She didnt fall for Daniel as quickly as he did for her. And even though she wasnt able to protect herself well, she didnt give up. Also, the writing just flowed and I couldnt stop reading even if I wanted to. It was simplistic but enticing and before I knew it I found I was finished with the story in several short hours. I will read the second book if given the opportunity. I'd like to see secondary characters become main characters in the sequel to see the author develop a slower paced romance.

Ever since Faye was eleven, she's been seeking revenge on the drug dealers who forced and made her addicted and killed her best friend Christian on Heam. Heam is a powerful addictive drug that either kills or brinks people to the edge of death able to foresee Heaven or Hell. Under strict rules as an addict Faye attends school and is shy just months of graduating. When she begins to unwillingly break each rule given to stay in school her life begins to unfold and everything she thought she knew isnt what it seems.

I normally rate books I finish in one sitting four or five stars but I can't do that with this read. Yes, I did finish it in one sitting but I realized at page 88 that I just wanted to finish and move on. The biggest factor for me is that this was too contemporary. There isnt a paranormal aspect to focus on its more internal conflict with the main character. I had a hard time staying awake so I took a break to eat and came back and finished within a few hours.

The plus is the writing and the world building; its believable and I can see a clear picture of what that world is and how the author is portraying the atmosphere because the writing is fantastic however, the plot is extremely predictable. I wasnt caught off guard one bit and foresaw just about everything coming.

The cover is so simple but so intriguing which is why I gave this a chance. I own and have started this author's first work Dark Inside but have not been able to finish it. I loaned it  to a friend and she said she wouldnt recommend it.

Month9Books Friday Cover Reveal

ABOUT I HEART ROBOT

Title: I Heart Robot
Publication date:  March 31, 2015
Publisher: Month9Books, LLC.
Author: Suzanne van Rooyen

Sixteen-year-old Tyri wants to be a musician and wants to be with someone who won't belittle her musical aspirations.

Q-I-99 aka 'Quinn' lives in a scrap metal sanctuary with other rogue droids. While some use violence to make their voices heard, demanding equal rights for AI enhanced robots, Quinn just wants a moment on stage with his violin to show the humans that androids like him have more to offer than their processing power.

Tyri and Quinn's worlds collide when they're accepted by the Baldur Junior Philharmonic Orchestra. As the rift between robots and humans deepens, Tyri and Quinn's love of music brings them closer together, making Tyri question where her loyalties lie and Quinn question his place in the world. With the city on the brink of civil war, Tyri and Quinn make a shocking discovery that turns their world inside out. Will their passion for music be enough to hold them together while everything else crumbles down around them, or will the truth of who they are tear them apart?

I HEART ROBOT Cover Art

I'm not the most artistically inclined. While I do love art and have been known to bust out the pencils and paints myself, it's not an area where I'd consider myself particularly talented. In short, I knew that cover design was something best left to the professional and I had every confidence in Month9Books.

I am so grateful to Georgia McBride for allowing me to have the amount of input I did when it came to cover creation for I Heart Robot. This is a novel that is as much about a civil rights struggle in a futuristic, post-war city as it is about romance, and we wanted a cover that reflected both elements. Finding the right balance between romance and science fiction was a tall order, but Month9Books delivered in spades by presenting me with two stylistically different covers. I loved elements of both, and by working closely with the cover artist and with Georgia we managed to combine all the best parts of both original covers into what we have today: a cover that reflects the gritty world my characters live in while emphasizing the fact that this is above all, a love story.
